The decision on the state regulation of gas prices was made in the interests of the Naftogaz Group and destroys private gas companies

In recent days, however, the company has been the subject of baseless accusations of involvement in setting inflated gas prices. Moreover, these accusations are voiced by populists, politicians, and NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine” officials. RGC estimates such statements as a dirty information campaign aimed at discrediting the largest private gas company. RGC believes that the administrative restriction of the gas prices for residential consumers by the Government will consolidate the monopolistic position of NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine”. The Governments actions are aimed at eliminating competition, discrimination, and destruction of private business in the national gas market. Cabinet of Ministers decision on administrative control in the natural gas market is destructive to its development, as stated by the European Business Association. European transparent regulation mechanisms that ensure equality of market participants and maintain competition are ignored. NJSC “Naftogaz Ukraine” is the only beneficiary of the Governments decision by maintaining sole access to domestically produced natural gas. In so doing, the European Energy Community Secretariats recommendations about equal and competitive access to this resource for the sake of the gas market development are ignored as well.
