EBA and Ukrzaliznytsia discuss long-term cargo transportation planning

22/ 02/ 2022
Yesterday, February 21, the European Business Association met with representatives of Ukrzaliznytsia - Andrii Miroshnikov, Director of the Commercial Work Department, and Valery Tkachev, Deputy Director of the Commercial Work Department. The discussion was focused on the introduction of long-term planning of cargo transportation with fixed liabilities for all stakeholders. The meeting participants discussed possible options for the terms and stages in planning the cargo transportation with long-term liabilities for systematic, regular transportation of large volumes of goods on fixed routes on fixed days and times. This will significantly reduce the transportation costs for cargo owners and JSC Ukrzaliznytsia, increase the predictability of the use of locomotives and wagons, reduce their deficit for transportation of specified volumes, increase the capacity and throughput of the railway facilities. Besides, the participants learned about the experience of the railway systems of Canada, the United States and European countries and got insights for providing long-term cargo service products. As the results of the meeting, it was decided to analyze the proposals from the business association and then finalize them taking into account the position of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia. The EBA thanks everyone for the open dialogue and hopes that we can find a compromise solution for all market participants!
