Support from the BDO network during the Russian invasion

24/ 03/ 2022
As a global company, BDO International condemns Russias senseless, unjust and cruel aggression against Ukraine. This is a war that seemed to have no place in the civilized world and is still hard to believe. Yet we are witnessing this crime against humanity that is destroying homes and killing hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians. BDO International has joined forces with all member firms of the BDO network and supports Ukrainians and all those who have suffered and continue to suffer from military action. BDO Ukraine since the first hours of the war is making everything it can to support and assure safety of our employees and to help the Ukrainian nation to defend its borders and its independence. We continue to pay taxes. We support our employees and pay salaries ahead of schedule. We provide additional financial assistance to our employees. We have set up a fundraising company from BDOs international offices to receive financial assistance from the entire network to be able to continue to provide financial support to the companys employees in Ukraine. We are transferring funds to help the Ukrainian army and volunteers. We do not stop paying all Ukrainian counterparties to keep the economy running. We are negotiating with foreign creditors to amend the payment terms to be able to provide maximum support to our employees and Ukraine as a whole. We support our colleagues and their families with seeking asylum in the west of Ukraine and in Europe. Our colleagues join in volunteering — either locally, if possible, or online. Based on experience, help in information searching works effectively and saves lives! Our colleagues joined the ranks of Ukraines Internet troops, where support to fight pro-Russia disinformation. BDO is an international network, and we are receiving a lot of support from BDO Global office and from our colleagues from all over the world. BDO recently announced the position on Ukraine which is that: no BDO firm will work with any sanctioned Russian and Belarussian entities, BDO does not have a network firm in Russia, BDO is removing BDO Belarus from its global network. BDO member firms are also fully implementing the sanctions imposed by their governments, which hopefully will help end this crisis. We appreciate all the warms we are receiving from individual friends and their offices and would like to share all the BDO International initiatives to help BDO in Ukraine and our employees. People helping people The BDO Response Centre Our priority was (and is) the safety of our people and their families on the ground. We immediately activated the BDO Response Centre, coordinating the humanitarian crisis that was emerging. A 24/7 Response Team is on stand-by to take calls and provide immediate first-hand support to our Ukrainian colleagues, ranging from transportation, accommodation, safe passage, where possible, and financial assistance. The BDO Financial Assistance Fund In less than one week, BDO set up a dedicated Fund, with a significant amount of donations from both BDO’s Global Office and many of our BDO firms. The fund will be used to provide frontline humanitarian aid and support to our colleagues, and ensure they have access to finances where and when needed. Access to technology For our displaced colleagues, BDO has made sure that IT support is in place, providing them with the necessary IT tools, and secure access to all networks, so they can stay connected at all times. Temporary and permanent solutions After the first immediate response, the BDO Response Centre is now assisting in finding a more suitable accommodation for our people, depending on their personal needs and preferences, including support with immigration requirements, access to medical care, further counselling and finances. BDO will also make sure that our colleagues can start working again, through temporary contracts with other BDO firms, but with the overall ambition to sustain and strengthen BDO in Ukraine. We are proud to be in BDO family and absolutely sure that darkest days is the time for the best friends. Ukraine will remain and become stronger and all of us will have much work to do in the future to rebuilt our country. Glory to Ukraine! #StandWithUkraine
