DTEK will lead a roundtable discussion in support of EU Green Deal during the World Economic Forum

22/ 01/ 2020
On the 23rd of January, during the World Economic Forum, DTEK will lead a roundtable discussion “A European Green Deal — How Can Ukraine’s Energy Sector Contribute?”. The Green Deal adopted by the European Commission on 11 December 2019 aims to reconfigure the EU’s existing economic model in the face of ongoing climate and environmental-related challenges. One of the priorities of this deal is to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. “Today, there is a lot of talk about Ukraine across the globe. We want and can tell the world our own success story which is built on European values and demonstrates how businesses can conduct their affairs responsibly. The goal of our roundtable is to discuss with the European partners both the contribution and opportunities of Ukraines energy reform to work in tandem with the Green Deal”, said DTEK CEO Maxim Timchenko. Ukraine can make a significant contribution to achieving the Green Deal targets by increasing the share of renewables in the country’s energy balance to replace other generation capacities, developing responsible consumption, and building a customer-focused energy sector. The 2020 Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos will bring together leaders from around the world for the 50th anniversary meeting. DTEK is the only company representing the Ukrainian energy sector at the forum.
