Ocalenie Foundation and Dentons Europe Foundation establish daycare center for Ukrainian children in Warsaw

13/ 09/ 2022
Warsaw, September, 2022 – Global law firm Dentons has teamed up with Ocalenie Foundation to support the legal needs and human rights of Ukrainian and other refugees in Poland.  In July 2022, Ocalenie Foundation opened a daycare for Ukrainian children in Warsaw with financial support from Dentons and other donors. Dentons donated €80,000 through its registered charitable foundation, the Dentons Europe Foundation, to cover the costs of opening the center and funding its operations for one year. The day care center serves 40 children aged between 6 and 14 years old.  The center is staffed with Ukrainian-speaking caregivers, who provide a nurturing space for the children.  The children also have the opportunity to learn Polish and to participate in excursions to explore the city.  For example, Dentons hosted a family picnic for the children in the day care and their families, and invited them to visit the Warsaw office to try on the lawyers’ robes and visit the rooftop terrace. In addition, lawyers from the Firms Warsaw office provided Ocalenie Foundation with pro bono legal advice to assist a group of 32 refugees from Afghanistan detained at the Polish border in Usnarz Górny. “Dentons is committed to making a positive impact on the communities in which we live and work, through our pro bono legal advice as well as charitable giving,” said Tomasz Dabrowski, CEO of Dentons Europe. “Among the many challenges faced by Ukrainian families displaced by the war is to find suitable childcare in Ukrainian language.  We are very proud to support Ocalenie Foundation in opening this day care.  Not only does it provide a safe space for the children, but it also allows their mothers – whose husbands are often still in Ukraine – to seek employment, knowing their children are in good hands.” * * * About Dentons Dentons is designed to be different.
