As response to COVID-19 crisis At Nestlé, our people and our consumers are always the center of our attention and the satisfaction of their needs is the driver of our operation. Nestlés response to the Covid-19 emergency that hit Ukraine, aims at the same time for prompt action and resilience, with the main objective of ensuring the health and safety of all employees and the economic and social stability of the system in which the company operates. “As soon as we saw the growing level of alerts and outbreak of the pandemic, we immediately wrap up our sleeves and made ourselves useful to our country, aware of the fact that every help count and there are many ways to support the people in need” – Alessandro Zanelli, CEO of Nestle Ukraine and Moldova said. As a company, we have decided to immediately support local communities, distributing food products, drinks and financial support to the health structures of basis. Food and beverages help people keep themselves healthy and enhance their quality of life. We believe that it is our responsibility to provide good nutrition, especially for the most vulnerable in Ukraine – families in need, the elderly and those struggling with illness. At the same time, we have also made every effort to guarantee all our people the highest level of security and continuity of their purchasing power, granting the salary increases and full remuneration. In this unprecedented time that the emergency of COVID-19 is giving us, we can proudly look at our 154-year- old Nestle Purpose – enhancing the quality of life and contributing to a healthier future – that is even more relevant today. We heed to a call of duty to ensure that the much-needed food and beverage products are available to our consumers and communities throughout the country. We would like to assure our customers and consumers in Ukraine that we will continue to produce and deliver products to meet the demand. Our people are fully committed and are working every day to ensure that we supply our food products, beverages and pet food to Ukrainian families. Understanding our full responsibility, we are working very hard to keep them healthy and safe. In recent weeks, we have implemented enhanced safety measures at all our sites, with particular focus on our frontline workers in Nestlé factories, laboratories, distribution centers and sales teams. We started with our factory operators who, with their precious work, make up the response locomotive to the emergency. But we understand this is not enough. Given our long-term presence in Ukraine, we really feel part of the community and the best way we can make a difference is help Ukrainian society to cope with this unprecedented crisis. Nestlé in Ukraine is mobilizing our relief initiatives for communities, where we operate. We are announcing our relief program to provide help to our communities and medical institutions. Nestlé in Ukraine is donating 20 million to help medical institutions across Ukraine buy lifesaving medical equipment. During first step we donate UAH 9 million to hospitals in Lviv, Lutsk, Kharkiv and Kyiv regions in order to supply them with necessary equipment such as personal protection equipment, sanitizers and patient monitoring devices, that are much needed in order to be ready to function and provide medical care for Ukrainian society in this difficult time. We will continue these activities according to the situation development and in line with future needs of our communities and hospitals. We understand that our vital role is to enhance the quality of life, especially for the most vulnerable and most affected today we are donating our food products. First 700 product sets donated by Nestlé in Ukraine will be distributed across Volyn Region among elderly people and families with kids, who are struggling during these tough times to provide nutritious food for them. We have a goal to reach about 12 000 individuals and families. We are partnering with local authorities and regional social protection institutions to make sure we reach those who need it the most. Our purpose has not changed, we are dedicated to enhancing quality of life and contributing to a healthier future. In times of need, we continue to prioritize supporting and caring for those who need it most. Alessandro Zanelli, CEO Nestlé in Ukraine and Moldova said: “At Nestlé we care deeply for people and communities, where we operate. In times like these we continue to live up to our purpose and values – enhancing quality of life and contributing to a healthier future. We believe that the biggest difference we can make for Ukrainian society today is our continuous support of local communities and medical institutions in Ukraine. We are ready to give our support to those who are fighting tirelessly against the spread of the virus every day”. For additional information please address to Nestlé: Olga Marchuk [email protected]
