We are Increasing the Volume of Production for the Economic Strength and Food Independence of Ukraine, – Pierre Pages, President of Lidea

30/ 11/ 2023
The Ministers of agriculture of Ukraine and France recently met in Kyiv with representatives of French companies that have been actively working and supporting the agricultural market of Ukraine since the first days of the war. The main goals of the delegations visit were to strengthen agricultural cooperation between France and Ukraine, discuss projects to rebuild the agricultural sector, and bring Ukrainian legislation closer to EU norms and practices within the framework of joint work for Ukraines accession to the EU. As a result, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty of the French Republic signed a Declaration of Intent. It is very important for us that the representative of Lidea is part of the French delegation, because the agricultural market is already partially integrated into the European one, but we are only at the beginning of this journey. As you know, the EU has granted permission to export corn, and companies such as Lidea, which have the ability to produce seeds both for the local market and for export, are already actively working in this direction. Another important step is the export of oil crops, and to discuss this issue as well, the President of Lidea Pierre PAGES, met with the Ministers of Agriculture of France and Ukraine, says Serhiy But, Deputy General Director of Lidea Ukraine LLC. As part of the visit of the French delegation, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty of the French Republic Marc Fesneau met with representatives of French companies that work and support the agricultural market of Ukraine. The French delegation also included a representative of the headquarters of the French Lidea Group - their President Pierre PAGES, who in particular held a working meeting with the Lidea team in Ukraine. Today, at the group level, business in Ukraine is one of the priorities, despite military actions. It is crucial to emphasize that we unequivocally condemn any form of violence and aggression. We are still ready to invest in the Ukrainian team, sown areas and local production. In this way, we help to strengthen the economy and ensure food independence of both Ukraine and each individual farmer. This year’s seed multiplication plan almost doubled in comparison to the year 2022, reaching 4 600 ha of production of sunflower, corn and soybean seeds, and we plan on reaching 7 000 ha by 2026. - said Pierre PAGES. This season, Lidea managed to increase the volume of sunflower production in Ukraine, which in turn ensures the early availability of seeds, minimizes logistical risks, because the entire cycle of finishing will take place at the factory in Ukraine, so the Ukrainian farmer can at least not worry about this. One of the key topics for discussion during the visit of the President of Lidea to the Ukrainian office of the company was the support of insurance programs during lending to partners, which was launched in 2022. and plan to continue in the future. Discussions are also ongoing regarding charitable assistance within the framework of the Together to the Sowing program, which is being implemented directly by Lidea, without the involvement of donors or other charitable organizations. The company intends to supply the territory and farms with seed material in the next sowing season. Work continues on the formation of a package of specific cultures and their volumes. In the meantime, within the framework of the internal program Together to the Sowing, aimed at supporting farmers affected by hostilities, the Ukrainian office of Lidea, with the support of European colleagues, in close cooperation with the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and the military administrations of the regions, until the autumn sowing provided 10 tons of elite soft wheat for the amount of UAH 400,856 to the farmers of the Kherson Region. Thanks to the support of Lidea, 10 farms will be able to sow 50 hectares of demined fields, and already in the spring season of 2024 have 250 tons of their own winter wheat seeds of the 1st reproduction for sowing. Earlier, in the 2023 spring sowing season, the companys team sent 1,091 s.u. sunflowers for sowing by farms for UAH 5.9 million. And in the spring sowing of 2022, more than 6,000 s.u. seeds worth about UAH 19 million were received by farms in the North-Eastern region of Ukraine. Lets go to victory together! - say the people from Lidea and work every day to ensure that Ukrainian farmers continue to work successfully and maintain leading positions in the world agricultural market.
