On 16 June, the European Business Association held another meeting of its Customs Committee, during which participants discussed current customs reform issues and practical aspects of implementing the new version of the Customs Code of Ukraine. Particular attention was given to the draft new Customs Code of Ukraine, developed as part of the harmonisation of national legislation with the customs legislation of the European Union. Participants reviewed the key innovations of the draft, its structure, and the potential impact of the proposed changes on business operations. The discussion also focused on customs authorisations and simplifications, the continued validity of existing permits following the entry into force of the new Code, and practical aspects of using simplified customs declarations. Particular attention was paid to potential transitional challenges for businesses and the need to ensure clear mechanisms for the implementation of the new provisions. Following the meeting, participants agreed to continue their work within specialised working groups to further analyse specific provisions of the draft Customs Code and develop a consolidated position of the business community on the most sensitive customs regulation issues. The Association thanks Committee members for their active participation in the discussion and constructive exchange of views. The business community will continue its engagement with public authorities to help build an effective, transparent, and predictable customs regulatory framework in Ukraine.
