MORIS advised on the process of inheritance of $1 million left by a Ukrainian-American family to Valeriy Zaluzhnyi as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which was directed to the needs of the Ukrainian Army

31/ 01/ 2023
According to the will of Gregory Stepanets, an American of Ukrainian descent, Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, was named as the heir to a part of the inheritance in the amount of $1 million, which was directed to the needs of the Ukrainian army. MORIS team provided legal support in all aspects of the negotiations and successfully organized the inheritance process, which resulted in the transfer of the entire amount to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The outcome of this project is extremely important not only for our team, but also for all Ukrainians, as the funds will be used for the most necessary items/equipment for our military. Maryan Martynyuk, Senior Partner at MORIS: When we were approached with this issue and the whole case was described, we immediately started thinking about the practical implementation of the whole process, since the will was drawn up in the US and the inheritance took place in Ukraine. However, all parties involved in the project understood the importance of this issue. In the process of communicating with American lawyers, we realized that the implementation of the entire inheritance procedure might be feasible in a short time. That is why we actively worked with the team of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, our American colleagues and other involved parties to successfully complete this project. This is another invaluable contribution to our victory by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and we are graeful to Valeriy Zaluzhnyi for giving us the opportunity to be involved in this great case.
