Government bonds in focus: OTP Bank clients invested more than UAH 6.5 billion equivalent in H1 2026

01/ 09/ 2026
In the first half of 2026, retail clients of OTP Bank JSC invested UAH 6.525 billion equivalent in Domestic Government Bonds (DGBs). The overwhelming majority of transactions, accounting for 99.9%, were completed remotely via the OTP Bank UA mobile application, highlighting strong customer demand for convenient online access to government securities. Among the purchased bonds, foreign currency-denominated DGBs were the most popular, accounting for 58% of total investments. At the same time, clients most frequently opted for short-term instruments with maturities of up to one year. Approximately 41% of all DGB purchases were made at primary auctions conducted by the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, while the remaining securities were acquired from the Bank’s portfolio. It is worth noting that investments in government bonds from the Bank’s portfolio can be made 24/7, allowing clients to independently choose the most suitable yield and investment term. OTP Bank continues to expand investment management capabilities within its mobile application. In particular, during the first half of 2026, 6.5% of DGB investors used the bond-selling feature available directly in OTP Bank UA. “Government bonds remain a popular instrument for preserving and growing savings among Ukrainians. In addition to generating potential investment income, purchasing government bonds contributes to supporting Ukraine’s economy and financing the country’s needs,” said Valeriia Ovcharuk, poduct owner at OTP Bank. She also noted that OTP Bank provides a fully digital investment journey for government bonds, from purchase to sale online, while repayment of the bonds is fully guaranteed by the state.
