EBA Industrial Ecology and Sustainable Development Committee holds round table on business decarbonisation

30/ 01/ 2026
On 28 January, the Industrial Ecology and Sustainable Development Committee of the European Business Association held a round table discussion entitled “Decarbonising Business in Ukraine.” The event was attended by Anna Zamazeeva, Head of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine, and Olesia Mishchenko, Chairperson of the Board of the Decarbonisation Fund of Ukraine JSC. During the round table, the speakers presented to member companies the available state support mechanisms for implementing decarbonisation and energy efficiency projects. In particular, they provided a detailed explanation of the operational mechanisms of the Decarbonisation Fund, project selection criteria, and the conditions and stages for submitting applications for financing. Special attention was given to the practical aspects of business participation in the relevant support programmes, as well as to the prospects for developing state financial instruments aimed at improving energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions in Ukraine. For the past five years, experts and member companies of the Committee have consistently drawn the attention of the Government of Ukraine to the need to develop financial instruments to support the decarbonisation of large industrial enterprises, which is one of the key factors in achieving Ukraine’s climate targets. At present, however, no such instruments are fully operational in Ukraine, while the environmental tax largely performs a fiscal function and is not used for its intended purpose. In the context of European integration, the introduction of comprehensive mechanisms to support the green transformation of industry in line with European approaches remains essential. The Industrial Ecology and Sustainable Development Committee of the European Business Association sincerely thanks the speakers for their substantive presentations and detailed explanation of available state support mechanisms, as well as the Association’s member companies for their active participation in the discussion and interest in implementing decarbonisation and energy efficiency projects.
