For the second consecutive year at the end of November, the EBA Logistics Committee brings together business and government officials to discuss the current state of development and reforming infrastructure in Ukraine. This year there were three sections of discussion. We started our talk with Igor Smilianskyi, Acting Head of Ukrposhta, to discuss reforming and improving the quality of postal and logistic market services. In particular, we discussed the results of Ukrposhta in 2017 and plans for the next year. The next section was devoted to rail transport, thus we invited Andriy Riazantsev, Director of Economics and Finance of Ukrzaliznytsya, and other top executives of Ukrzaliznytsia to participate. Mr. Riazantsev and his colleagues shared the progress of reforms in the railway sector in Ukraine. We talked about the adoption of the Law of Ukraine On Rail Transport, the introduction of a competitive rail market, and the attraction of private investment in the railway sector. The issues of railway safety while cargo transportation and other important issues of the development of railway infrastructure of Ukraine were raised. We finish our event with the discussion of the reform of the sea and river industries of Ukraine with Volodymyr Omelian, Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, and Rayvis Vetskagans, Acting Head of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority. Business raised questions about the Methodology of calculating port fees and the Port tax collection procedure, the establishment and operation of the Maritime Administration, the adoption of the Law of Ukraine On Inland Water Transport, as well as the results of 2017 and plans for 2018. We sincerely thank all the participants of the event and the speakers for the exciting discussion and friendly atmosphere. See you again next year!
