National standards are coming closer to international ones. The Ministry of Finance is gradually making changes, eliminating the difference between the Ukrainian accounting system and the generally accepted European one. BDO Ukraine, together with the Federation of Professional Accountants and Auditors of Ukraine, initiated the IFRS Forum Ukraine “On the Road to Qualitative IFRS Reporting”, with the aim of informing financial service representatives of joint stock companies and those responsible for compiling and submitting financial statements under IFRS on regulatory and legislative requirements providing financial advice, giving practical advice and disclaimers to practitioners, and highlighting the most pressing issues that arise when applying IFRS.
“The more professional requirements we put forward – the more we start to earn. The profession of accountant and auditor will truly be appreciated only when it becomes controlled and open. We currently have 38 organizations in Ukraine uncontrolled, which do not obey the professional codes of ethics, which just being cute and drink tea. The organization should be controlled” – said Alla Savchenko, president of BDO Ukraine, the forum’s initiator, during a speech on the forum.
