Foxtrot Extends Sign Language Customer Service to 40 Stores

07/ 05/ 2025
The service is in real time, hence ensuring that customers who are hearing-impaired can feel comfortable and secure while buying electronics from Foxtrot. At the end of April 2025, the retailer added to the list of stores that provide its Barrier-Free Foxtrot service, which is aimed at assisting deaf customers. Moreover, Foxtrot determined the most frequently visited store by deaf customers. The free service was made available to another ten stores in Kyiv, Uzhhorod, Zaporizhzhia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kryvyi Rih, Lviv, Mykolaiv, Odesa, and Ternopil. For those with hearing disabilities, the ability to shop for electronics in an unhindered and obstacle-free manner is not a convenience; its a basic right. These kinds of experiences also build up trust and encourage repeat visits. As such, we are continually updating and augmenting our services to ensure equal shopping experiences for everyone. At the same time, we are trying to enhance physical accessibility by adapting our store areas to the inclusive needs of our customers, commented Lesia Nikulina, Head of Trade Marketing at Foxtrot and curator and initiator of the Barrier-Free Foxtrot project. Today, the sign language service is offered in 40 stores and on Foxtrot.ua, thereby guaranteeing equality and access to the retailers products and services. Customers can order a sign language interpreter via a special tablet with pre-installed software or by scanning a QR code. Also, the website Foxtrot.ua has the Vushko widget, which allows simultaneous communication with both a contact center operator and a sign language interpreter. Within the project implementation, for the first time weve identified our most popular inclusive store in terms of servicing deaf customers. The title is awarded to our Lviv store at 7B Pid Dubom Street. Its staff has held 168 consultations with the online sign language interpreter — more than 11 hours of communication and consultation to provide customers with hearing disabilities with complete product information, continued Lesia Nikulina. Staff buy-in was an integral component of the project. Particular acknowledgement was made of teams from thirty stores that have effectively launched the service. Over forty hours of in-store consultations and over twenty hours via the online widget have been delivered since the service launched. The retailer aims to launch the service across the whole network by the end of the year. In 2023, Foxtrot launched its sign language communication service in collaboration with the NGO Social Unity Civil Movement, making it the first in the electronics retail sector to provide this solution. In 2024, the project received numerous awards, including silver in the Best Inclusive Approach Implementation nomination at the UCXE2024 National Customer Experience Awards, first place among HR Brand Ukraine 2024 Awards winners, silver at the Partnership for Sustainability Award 2024 international award in the Society category, and became one of the winners of the competition of MMRs Responsible Country 3.0 social initiative. Besides, Foxtrot is working to enhance the comfort of its renovated and new stores for customers with wheelchairs, canes, or crutches. Induction loops have been installed to enhance sound for customers using hearing aids. These accessibility features have been put into place already in stores situated in Chabany (Epicenter Mall), Lviv (62 Chervonoi Kalyny Ave), Odesa (City Center Mall), Ivano-Frankivsk (Veles Mall), Zaporizhzhia (City Mall), and Bila Tserkva (Hermes Mall). Foxtrot is one of the largest omnichannel retail chains in Ukraine, dominating in terms of store quantity and sales volumes of electronics and appliances. The company operates 126 stores located in 68 cities and towns as of the end of April, while simultaneously building its e-commerce platform and mobile application available at Foxtrot.ua. The company continuously introduces initiatives that are focused on optimizing business processes, improving accessibility, and the overall customer experience. Foxtrot was founded by Ukrainian entrepreneurs Hennadii Vykhodtsev and Valerii Makovetskyi.
