In May, DTEK Grids power engineers returned light to 687,000 families left without electricity due to shelling in Donetsk, Odesa and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts. In the Kyiv region, specialists have fully completed all restoration work.
Meanwhile, active hostilities continued in the Donetsk region in May. Currently, the grids are being damaged every day due to shelling in the Lymansky, Avdiivsky, Mariinsky, Toretsky, Bakhmut, and Velykonovosilkivsky directions. Over the past month, DTEK’s electricians have returned light to almost 653,000 residents of the region in 579 settlements. In some households, the light has to be restored almost daily due to active shelling and constant damage to grids. Particularly, on the morning of May 29, the mainline of NEC Ukrenergo, which supplies a large part of the Kramatorsk and Bakhmut districts, was damaged by shelling. DTEK Power Engineers Donetsk Electric Girds inspected the power grid and helped NEC Ukrenergo specialists to bring light back to all over 337,000 households in the affected areas by the end of the day.
In May, hostile shelling continued in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Thus, power engineers had to rebuild grids damaged by enemy missiles in the Kryvyi Rih region for almost 10,000 households.
Grids in the Odessa region were also damaged by russian aggressors. In May, power engineers restored electrical infrastructure and returned light to almost 25,000 residents in 40 settlements in the region.
Natural gas market
Regional Gas Company. 166,868 consumers remain without gas supply as of May 30, 2022.
Since the russian invasion, the company has witnessed cases of deliberate destruction of critical infrastructure, namely 5,000 km of gas distribution networks were destroyed, 311 units of high-tech modern vehicles were smashed and 6,000 square meters of buildings were put down. Due to hostilities, 1,074 gas distribution and 2,739 cabinet gas control points were shut down and damaged. Specialists of GDN Operators resumed work of 390 gas distribution and 929 closed-circuit gas regulating stations.
The rapid restoration of gas equipment is due to RGC Production and the RGC network of logistics centers promptly receiving components from European suppliers. During May-June, plants in Vinnytsia, Dnipro, and Lviv will ship 217 closed-circuit gas-regulating units to Kyiv, Chernihiv, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, and other regions.
Kharkiv region. The gasmen repaired the damage to the medium-pressure gas pipeline with a diameter of 720 mm in Northern Saltovka. After demining of the territory by the military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and employees of the State Emergency Service, Kharkivmiskgaz specialists gained access to this section of the gas pipeline and replaced the destroyed parts. The gas companies are conducting inspections and complete elimination of the consequences of enemy shelling on all nearby gas pipelines. Specialists of JSC Kharkivmiskgaz manually check all indoor gas pipelines for tightness and integrity.
Resumption of gas supply will begin after ensuring the safety of residents of the area.
Specialists of JSC Kharkivgaz have started the restoration of gas pipelines in the fourth deoccupied settlement of the region – Vilkhivka, Kharkiv district. The gas company replaced the destroyed sections of the distribution gas pipelines and repaired the damaged infrastructure facilities. Work continues in the town of Dergachi, where the distribution to several more households has been restored. However, the enemy continues to inflict artillery strikes on critical infrastructure. One of the gas control points in the Chuhuiv district was destroyed by a direct hit. And in the Kharkiv district, a high-pressure gas pipeline was attacked by the occupants. Gas supply to the residents of the district has been temporarily suspended during the repair works.
