EBA experts join European Commission webinar on the launch of the EU Raw Materials Mechanism

12/ 02/ 2026
Experts from the European Business Association took part in a European Commission webinar dedicated to the launch and practical implementation of the EU Raw Materials Mechanism. The Mechanism is aimed at ensuring a sustainable supply of critical raw materials to Europe. Its key objectives include diversifying imports, developing domestic extraction, strengthening raw materials processing, supporting new projects across the entire value chain, and facilitating direct interaction between industrial consumers, suppliers, financial institutions and storage operators. This approach creates additional opportunities for Ukraine as a potentially important supplier of raw materials and processed products to European industry. During the event, participants discussed the core elements of the Mechanism’s operation, as well as the first matchmaking round scheduled for March 2026. It is expected to focus on diversifying the supply of rare earth elements. Particular attention was given to a step-by-step demonstration of the registration process on the Mechanism’s platform. The platform enables the aggregation of supply and demand for strategic materials, the establishment of consortia, the organisation of joint procurement, and the launch of investment initiatives. The event is particularly relevant for subsoil users considering participation in strategic projects and international cooperation in the field of raw materials.
