Trading margin for chiken meat remained unchanged within the previous 6 months

05/ 09/ 2017
Recently, there has been a significant increase in prices, which have already almost equaled European ones, and according to experts forecasts, by the end of the year they should increase by 10-15%. At the same time, representatives of retail chains claim that the trade surcharge on chicken meat has not undergone any significant changes. At the same time, retailers notice an increase in demand for chicken meat as a consequence of a decrease in consumers interest in beef and pork - due to a significant increase in prices for these types of meat, which led respectively to a reduction in the number of cattle and massive destruction of animals through the spread of African plague pigs Manufacturers of the same rise in prices explain the increase in production costs - the increase in prices for feed, energy tariffs, and the growth of minimum wages. Representatives of the branch also report on the increase of exports of poultry meat this year, the increase of which may lead to shortages of products on the Ukrainian market, and in the long run even before the transition to the purchase of imported meat. Taking into account the situation, representatives of the Committee on Retail Trade held meetings with the leadership of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine and provided the necessary clarifications. We will continue to cooperate and communicate with both relevant government authorities and market players and other stakeholders in order to effectively resolve the situation in the interests of consumers.
