EBA discusses European integration in the food and wood processing industries with the German Embassy

  The European Business Associations Food Committee and Woodworking and Furniture Committee met with representatives of the Embassy of Germany in Ukraine to discuss European integration in the food and wood processing industries, the progress of aligning Ukrainian legislation with EU law, and the challenges businesses face in implementing European requirements. Representatives of the Food Committee highlighted challenges related to the states institutional capacity, particularly the shortage of accredited laboratories and qualified specialists needed to effectively implement EU standards. Meanwhile, representatives of the Woodworking and Furniture Committee focused on: harmonising Ukrainian legislation with EU requirements on sustainable forest management and timber traceability; ensuring transparent mechanisms for access to raw materials; creating favourable conditions for the production of value-added wood products and expanding their exports to the European Union. Particular attention was also paid to the shortage of timber raw materials available to Ukrainian wood processing companies. In addition, representatives of both Committees presented the Associations activities, including its work to support Ukraines European integration reforms, improve sectoral regulation, and strengthen dialogue between the business community and public authorities. Following the meeting, the participants agreed to continue their cooperation in supporting Ukraines European integration process and exchanging expertise.

In addition, representatives of both Committees presented the Association’s activities, including its work to support Ukraine’s European integration reforms, improve sectoral regulation, and strengthen dialogue between the business community and public authorities.

Following the meeting, the participants agreed to continue their cooperation in supporting Ukraine’s European integration process and exchanging expertise.
