02/ 09/ 2024
Meetings that bring together all participants in the container transportation are invaluable. They provide an opportunity to synchronize the times regarding the latest industry developments, exchange current experiences, and discuss strategies for responding to challenges. Such was the EBA Expert Talks, held on August 29, 2024 by the EBA Odesа Transport Working Group in partnership with Global Ocean Link, a leader in the container transportation market. The first part of the event was opened by Kateryna Morozova, the Head of the  EBA Southern Ukrainian Office, who presented the results of the fifth wave  the EBA survey on local business sentiment. Following the organizers opening remarks, attendees explored the expectations and the actual state of the container transportation market in Ukraine for the 2024/2025 season. The speakers included Volodymyr Huz, Commercial Director of Global Ocean Link, Vadym Burlachenko from Akkon Lines, and Yuriy Krasovskyi from N’UNIT. Next, a panel discussion on Current Trends in Container Logistics: Ukraine vs. the World was held. The discussion was moderated by Pavlo Lynnyk, CEO of Global Ocean Link. Among the speakers were Yuriy Brzhezytskyi from Global Ocean Link, Oleksandr Shambaliov from BLASCO, Leonid Zaborovskyi from CMA CGM, and Ivan Kozakevych from Agroprosperis. Participants had the opportunity to learn a lot from the experts of leading companies in Ukraines container transportation market. During the event, there was a chance to compare the expected and actual state of the container transportation market after the resumption of maritime traffic. Since this also impacted the global market, the topic was a great interest to the event participants. Another relevant issue discussed was what hinders the development of Ukraines container transportation market, aside from the war. Indeed, military actions significantly impact and create obstacles. At the same time, it is important to understand the degree of influence that market participants have on its development and the ability to collectively face challenges. Also significant was the discussion the role of the state, represented by customs and regulatory authorities, in influencing container transportation in Ukraine. Therefore, attendees were able to discuss a wide range of truly relevant issues. The friendly atmosphere was especially enhanced by the buffet and networking session that followed the official part of the event. In conclusion, it is worth noting that the deep-sea container transportation market is coming back to life and becoming more active. The strong interest of industry participants in development gives many well-founded hopes.
