EBA Odesa Discussion with EBRD

    Most of companies in Ukraine are small and medium enterprises (SME). They provide work for more than 4 mil people, producing about 20% of the countrys GDP. The business environment in Ukraine is largely regulated, but for SME flourish - standards, support services, innovation policy and the provision of assistance to such entrepreneurs should be improved. Therefore, on October 31 was held an EBA Odesa Discussion with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on SME Support and Development Tools: EBRD Projects within the EU4Business Initiative in Ukraine. EBRD representatives, Denis Torkhov and Yuliya Itygina, told about what the biggest financial investor in Ukraine doing for the transition to a market economy. The speakers shared EU4Business program’s opportunities in which SME can be supported and all needed conditions for it. Also, opportunities for participation in trainings and seminars for CEOs was highlighted. They noted that the part of the EU4Business initiative in Ukraine is realized by EBRD since 2016. It facilitates obtaining funding for SMEs, provides training, targeted support to enterprises and access to export etc.  In addition, the participants learned about examples of the successful projects. Namely, the results obtained by cooperation with the EBRD, include: the companies brands, the sales system, the marketing concept and media strategy, the annual marketing plans, created own brands, developed operational activities in the sales, reorganized internal structure, established communication among regional managers and other employees, developed professional competence of employees and corporate website, introduced an automatic finance accounting system, implemented the CRM systems and more.
