DSV in Ukraine: 10 Years!

25/ 09/ 2023
In 2003, following the acquisition of the Dutch logistics holding company Frans Maas, DSV - Global Transport and Logistics opened its representation in Ukraine, with its headquarters in Kyiv and a branch in Lviv. The total warehouse area across Ukraine amounted to approximately 9,700 square meters. At that time, DSV Ukraine provided clients with logistic services and carried out cargo transportation using various modes of transportation. The pivotal year of 2013... The complete reorganization of DSV Ukraine leads to the creation of a competitive player in the logistics market of Ukraine, aimed at conducting business, according to international standards and ensuring sustainable development - DSV Logistics company. In relaunching DSVs business in Ukraine, I had three goals: 1) to create a company for employees with transparent processes and clear rules, unwavering respect for each individual, the opportunity to voice their opinions and influence the companys development, competitive salaries, and a bonus system tied to results, an entrepreneurial spirit, support for initiatives, and all opportunities for personal growth; 2) to elevate the professional level of our employees, make clients our friends and partners satisfied with the quality and value of our services; 3) and as a result, make DSV Logistics a profitable company with continuous growth, recalls Andriy Potsiluyenko, Managing Director at DSV Logistics. Already in the summer of 2014, DSV Logistics moved to a new spacious office at 7D Dziuby Ivana Street in Kyiv, increasing its class A warehouse space to 7,000 square meters. This provided the company with additional opportunities for development and the provision of European-level in-city warehouse services. A regional office was opened in Odessa, one of the countrys most important industrial centers and maritime gates, which has been under the supervision of Serhiy Kushnirenko up to the present day. In 2013-2015, the company experienced rapid growth in maritime transportation, and by 2016-2017, the volumes of cargo aviation transportation significantly increased. As a result, DSV Logistics took a leading position in the market. I have been working at DSV Logistics since its inception, and at that time, the global company DSV was relatively unknown in Ukraine. From the very beginning, our small and dedicated team set out to implement international and high standards that already existed within DSV. Most of our clients were local companies, and competition was fierce. Over time, we had to fight for every shipment with local freight forwarders who were strong players in maritime transportation. In airfreight, DSV Logistics maintained a strong position thanks to the efforts of the head of the Airfreight Operations Department, Sergiy Volyk. Furthermore, modeling separate departments within the Air & Sea department, an entirely new department for transporting oversized cargo, was created, which is still led by Andriy Skydanchuk. The Operational department, headed by Grygorii Ponomarenko, also underwent significant transformations. However, the Sales Department, under the leadership of Olga Lebedieva, has been and remains the departments greatest pride, caring for DSV Logistics clients daily, diligently, and zealously, providing Red Carpet service.  Over 10 years, the department has increased the overall volume of cargo transportation by 400%. It is important to note the constant support and mentorship of the Head Office, which has been helping us achieve the highest results over the years. Currently, Ukraine is at war, and despite everything, we are determined to achieve victory and rebuild the country. In our plans, we still aim to expand DSV Logistics presence in all major cities of Ukraine. Therefore, I would like to wish our company to stay on the same course of proactivity, always set ambitious goals, and put in maximum effort to achieve them, Oleksandr Krasnov, Director, Air & Sea at DSV Logistics. 2018 was a time of growth for road transport, the opening of a new office, and an increase in warehouse capacity in Kyiv. I remember when I joined DSV Ukraine: it was a small company, not very prominent in the logistics landscape of Ukraine. It seemed like we didnt even make it to the top 20 logistics companies. I started my career in the Sales of the Air & Sea department. We had around 10 shipments per month... But from the moment DSV Logistics was created, everything changed radically. We were clearly focused on customer needs, creating additional value for them, and improving our productivity. We grew in terms of quantity and quality of services provided, expanded our workforce, extended the geography of our services, and increased the pool of loyal customers, both international and local. 2018 was a significant year for me personally. I was elected as the Director of the Road Department. Over these 6 years, many changes have taken place: department reorganization, the creation of a cohesive team, the opening of a DSV Logistics office in Kharkiv. But most importantly, the department became a unified whole, united by a common goal and vision. In the near future, we plan to build our own groupage network in at least five regions of Ukraine. I wish our company to become the largest logistics provider for road transport services, both international and local, says Roman Ostroverkh, Director, Road at DSV Logistics. The global merger with Panalpina World Transport Ltd in 2019 contributed to strengthening DSV Logistics position in the logistics services market and expanding the team with highly skilled professionals from various specializations, ranging from business development managers to finance department staff. I joined DSV Logistics as a Logistics Manager in 2020. It was my first experience in such a large company with modern warehouse facilities capable of ensuring uninterrupted customer order fulfillment. I was also impressed by the people working at DSV. Everyone has a constructive mindset and is ready to support one another. The companys communication culture and work processes contribute to productive work. Within two years, I had already advanced to the position of Senior Warehouse Logistics Manager. DSV is constantly growing, and so are its employees. Currently, I am the Head of the Operational Warehouse Logistics Department, and I wish our company to realize all its plans in the future, open new automated warehouses, and refine warehouse processes because there are no limits to excellence, - Margarita Trubitsyna, Head of the Operational Warehouse Logistics Department at DSV Logistics. At the end of the summer of 2021, with the acquisition of the Agility Global Integrated Logistics (GIL) division, DSV Logistics strengthens its international positions in road transportation, enters new markets with local clients, and increases its workforce with highly competent specialists from GIL. On February 24, 2022, the lives of Ukrainians were forever divided into before and after. Despite the full-scale war and its consequences, DSV Logistics, one of the companies that endured and faced all the challenges, demonstrated astonishing results. The company never ceased to support its clients and carry out humanitarian deliveries even during the war. In November 2022, there was a reorganization of the Lviv office aimed at strengthening the companys position in the Western region of the country, business development, and launching new services for groupage transport. Additionally, in the early autumn of 2023, DSV Logistics opened a representative office in Dnipro. In the first 10 years, DSV Logistics has not only grown in scale, capacity, and geographic coverage but has also become a leading logistics provider in Ukraine. The company fulfills its commitments to partners and clients and takes full responsibility for the quality of the services provided. On September 19, 2013, DSV Logistics was registered, and I was fortunate to be there practically at its inception. In these 10 years, leading the finance department, the companys annual turnover has grown 20 times!  The role of the finance department has also changed, increasingly assisting the company in achieving high efficiency in business transformation and financial optimization. Intensive growth and integration of modern solutions into business processes, in my opinion, is the right direction for the successful companys progress.  Therefore, the only thing I would like to wish our company is further long-term stable growth and a desire for more, says Vladyslav Marchenko, CFO at DSV Logistics.
