Business welcomes ratification of decision No. 2/2024 of the Pan-Euro-Med Joint Committee

05/ 05/ 2025
On 1 May, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine ratified Decision No. 2/2024 of the Joint Committee of the Regional Convention on Pan-Euro-Mediterranean Preferential Rules of Origin. Since early 2025, the EBA’s business community has raised this issue in its communications with government authorities and has consistently called for its swift ratification. To recap, on 1 January 2025, the updated version of the Regional Convention on Pan-Euro-Mediterranean Preferential Rules of Origin entered into force in Ukraine. However, the updated version did not include Decision No. 2/2024 of the Pan-Euro-Med Joint Committee, which introduced a transitional period in December 2024. The ratification of this Decision will simplify customs procedures and enhance the competitiveness of Ukrainian businesses on European and Pan-Euro-Med markets. The EBA extends its gratitude to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Government for their attention to this matter. We look forward to the President of Ukraine signing the Law so that it may officially enter into force.
