Business and MinRETS signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in the grain market

03/ 10/ 2019
Grain industry plays an important role in the agrarian sector of Ukraine and has great potential for development. Thus, according to market operators, grain exports from Ukraine will increase to 70 million tons in the coming years. In particular, in the 2018/2019 marketing year, Ukraine exported a record volume of grain - 50.4 million tons. The largest buyers of Ukrainian grain in the first half of 2019, as before, were countries of Asia, Africa, and Europe. In January-June 2019, the export of domestic cereals amounted to 26.2 million tons. Accordingly, the production, processing, and export of grain and oilseeds provide significant budget revenues and are important work-givers. In addition, they contribute to ensuring the food and financial stability of the state. The European Business Association is pleased to announce that this year a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine (MinRETS) and the grain exporting entities in the 2019/2020 marketing year was signed today, 3 October. This document contains mechanisms for interaction of grain market participants, exchange of information on grain export prospects, monitoring of grain market functioning. It is worth noting that for the first time a Memorandum on cooperation in the grain market was concluded between the state and grain trading companies in the 2011/2012 marketing year and proved to be an effective mechanism for realizing both the interests of the state on the need to stabilize the consumer grain market and ensure food security, and the intentions of grain trading companies to plan volumes of export and formation of transparent rules of interaction with the state in the grain market. Thus, business positively assesses the situation when, even with the merger of agro-direction with the Mineconomy, this tendency of cooperation between business and government is preserved. Therefore, the European Business Association thanks the MinRETS for effective cooperation with the leading players of the Ukrainian grain market.
