Business and the Voice party will work together on environmental reforms

  This was agreed to today by the member companies of the EBA Committee for Industrial Ecology and Sustainable Development during a meeting with representatives of the Voice Party. Thus, the areas of cooperation will relate to: 1) Reforms of environmental finance, namely holding hearings on the environmental tax; 2) Reforms of state environmental control, including the need to send the draft law №3091 for revision; 3) Development of a legal framework for launching a market for greenhouse gas emission allowance trading. According to preliminary agreements, discussions on the results of the launch of the monitoring, reporting, and verification system and preparation of the next steps are expected in the coming months; 4) Continuation of the negotiation with the EU on an individual approach to Ukraine in the context of border carbon adjustment (CBAM) and development of policies to protect Ukrainian business from imports from countries with low climate obligations. The participants also raised the issue of industrial pollution reform (draft laws №4167 and №4167-1), the implementation of which should be in line with European practices and at the same time take into account Ukrainian realities, in particular, in terms of time and investment opportunities.
