The business community urges to reboot efforts to combat the pandemic

21/ 04/ 2021
The coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) has brought serious consequences for human lives around the globe and the world economy. Thus, entrepreneurs are aware of the gravity of the problem facing society and the Government. From the very beginning of the pandemic, entrepreneurs joined the volunteer movement to provide medical institutions with individual means of protection for medical staff, repair, and purchase of respirators and oxygen concentrators, purchase of drugs and oxygen. Moreover, businesses continue to do so still now. Surely, the business understands the need for quarantine restrictions. However, he also expects the opposite understanding from the authorities - the application of strict health measures to employees, including quarantine, has already led to significant costs in many industries. Like society as a whole, entrepreneurs were looking forward to news of vaccine development and the start of vaccination. Naturally, the information about the start of vaccination in Ukraine was especially important. At the same time, the current situation with vaccination leaves much to be desired. Unfortunately, society does not see a clear and transparent plan for mass vaccination of the population, and information about signed contracts for the supply of vaccines does not always look specific. Instead, there are already countries in the world where mass vaccination was carried out quite successfully and organized as a large-scale logistics operation, which involves not only medical facilities but also all the necessary resources available to the governments of these countries. Well-known is the success of Israel, and in the United States, the number of vaccinated population reached 145 million. The inoculation campaign is successful in Ukraines neighboring countries - 16% of the population in Slovakia and 18% in Lithuania. Business is aware that Ukraine is not rich enough to organize a nationwide vaccination at once. Moreover, the vaccine costs money. And, given the statistics that are observed daily in the country on the number of beds in hospitals occupied by coronavirus patients, we understand that the treatment of each person is a significant cost to the state. In this context, it is still worth making a strategically sound decision, which, of course, may come at a great cost in the beginning, however, in the long run, will help save public money. In our opinion, such a decision should be the vaccination of the part of the population that has a desire to get vaccinated. Moreover, Ukraine does not have enough financial reserves to support business, as in other countries. And the complete ban on certain activities leads to large-scale losses in entire industries, such as the cinema and theater industry, restaurant business, retail of non-food products, and others. Therefore, the sooner the Ukrainian population receives full protection from the virus, the closer the state will get out of the actual crisis, and there will not be a need to suspend the economy. Therefore, the business community calls on the Government to take a strategic approach to the coronavirus and vaccination situation - to review the vaccination roadmap and make every effort to provide the country with sufficient vaccines. In addition, ensure a fast and transparent process of procurement of vaccines, logistics, and organization of vaccination. And the business community, for its part, is ready to join and support the progressive steps of the Government in this direction.

However, he also expects the opposite understanding from the authorities – the application of strict health measures to employees, including quarantine, has already led to significant costs in many industries.

Like society as a whole, entrepreneurs were looking forward to news of vaccine development and the start of vaccination. Naturally, the information about the start of vaccination in Ukraine was especially important.
