General meeting with Ihor Nasalyk, Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine

  The EBA business community met with Igor Nasalyk, Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine, Natalia Boyko, Deputy Minister, and Yuliia Pidkomorna, Acting State Secretary of the Ministry. We discussed top issues of concern of companies, namely, the peculiarities of the implementation of the Law of Ukraine On the electricity market, the liberalization of the gas market and increased volumes of gas extraction, certain issues of privatization in the energy sector, current state and prospects for coal purchase. The Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry has been included into the list of those departments that have undergone the reform of public administration, so in the near future three directorates will be established with the new personnel working in parallel with profile departments, and in the future they should be replaced. Mr. Nasalik also informed that the Ministry had developed a new energy strategy, which was already being agreed upon by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. However, the approach to the development of the energy sector should be flexible, the Minister noted, especially in the light of the rapid development of renewable energy sources. We sincerely thank colleagues from the Ministry for their openness and attention to business concerns and proposals!
