Business of Odesa met with a representative of the Austrian Embassy

    Today, Ukraine needs the support of reliable external partners. Thus, at the beginning of September, the governments of Ukraine and Austria reached an agreement on the promotion of the development of modern social and educational infrastructure, in particular the network of modern medical and vocational educational institutions, the promotion of the development of the insurance medicine market in Ukraine, the activation of bilateral economic relations in the sphere of investments, innovations and the implementation of economic projects, especially in the field of medical technologies and healthcare facilities. On September 30, 2022, the meeting of Odesa regional business with the Gabriele Haselsberger, Trade Adviser of the Austrian Embassy was held in Odesa. From the Southern Ukrainian office of the European Business Association, the meeting was attended by: Kateryna Morozova, Head of the Southern Ukrainian office of EBA, as well as representatives of member companies of the Association: Oleksandr Smyslov, member of the Coordination Council of EBA Odesa, General Director of FACTUM, Vitaly Dankevich, Head of the Environmental Working Group of EBA Odesa, CEO of UkrEcoProm, Viktor Syzonenko, Head of the Transport Working Group of EBA Odesa, Lawyer LAMARIN, Artur Nitsevich, Chairman of the Legal Committee of EBA Odesa, Partner, co-founder of Interlegal, Peter Thompson, General Director of UA Sustainable Agri Trading. During the meeting, the participants raised such an important topic as the business climate in the Southern region of Ukraine. In particular, they talked about: the general economic situation in accordance with the working industries, work with/on the Austrian market: problems and hopes, the need for cooperation in war conditions, the search for business partners in Austria or for Austrian companies in Ukraine. What is more, the urgent questions of Ukrainian companies were also voiced at the meeting. In addition, Ms. Kateryna Morozova presented the results of the Regional Index 2022 survey. So, this year, 71% of the entrepreneurs we surveyed answered that it is difficult for them to do business in the region, and the other 29% - that it is satisfactory. The TOP-problems, according to Odesa entrepreneurs are difficulties with logistics and a decrease in the purchasing power of the population, in third place – is the outflow of staff abroad. In the future, the companies plan to focus on supporting the companys activities in martial law conditions, entering new markets, and optimizing the companys staff. On behalf of the European Business Association, we sincerely thank the Embassy of Austria and Ms. Haselsbergerfor the initiative of the meeting and the opportunity to discuss urgent issues for the business community! Also we would like to express special gratitude to the Austrian partners for the financial and humanitarian help to Ukraine and for Austrias initiative to restore the Zaporizhzhia region. We hope for further extending of bilateral cooperation between our countries in the future!
