Business discussed solutions to challenges facing the woodworking industry

  On May 13, experts from the Woodworking and Furniture Industry Committee of the European Business Association held a meaningful meeting with the management and representatives of the state enterprise Forests of Ukraine. During the meeting, participants discussed key issues concerning the business community that require joint solutions involving both business representatives and government bodies. In particular, the discussion focused on: Joint work on the updated draft law On the Timber Market, ensuring that the final version considers the interests of all market participants; Improvement of the timber auction procedures; Implementation of the EUDR Regulation, including the development of a mechanism for integrating geolocation data into waybills, which will enable the export of finished wood products to the EU; Increasing volumes of timber harvesting; Deregulation of legislation to improve business conditions and enhance the investment attractiveness of the sector. As a result of the meeting, experts from the Association and Forests of Ukraine agreed on joint actions to improve legislation in the forestry, woodworking, and furniture industries. Specific steps were also outlined that will help boost the competitiveness of enterprises, ensure the stable functioning of the industry, stimulate wood processing, and promote the efficient use of forest resources. The European Business Association extends its gratitude to Yurii Bolokhovets, Director General of Forests of Ukraine, for organizing the meeting, engaging in constructive dialogue with the Association’s experts, and showing openness to cooperation with the business community for the development of the timber market.
