26/ 04/ 2024
The participation of BDO in Ukraine is representatives, Iryna Knizhnikova and Tetyana Demchenko, in the conference “Reconstructing Ukraine: Communities Leading the Way to Victory”, recently held in Kyiv, proved pivotal in understanding the current trends in the countrys recovery. Organized by the LRHub Center for Economic Growth, the Foundation for Institutional Development, and the Agency for Recovery and Development, the conference aimed to analyze key issues and problems related to the recovery of Ukrainian communities. An important goal of the event was to identify opportunities and tools that will contribute to an effective and inclusive recovery process. The event featured an active discussion on the following topics: Rethinking recovery: from foundation to mentality. Local economic development is the foundation of the economy. Implementation of legislation on recovery in communities: what has proven effective and what needs to be changed. Transparent community recovery through building anti-corruption compliance. The factor of funding from international donor organizations played an important role in the discussion. The conference participants emphasized the need for high-quality project documentation, as only well-prepared projects in accordance with international standards can receive the necessary funding. Community representatives shared their experience of participating in grant competitions, implementing legislation on restoration and building anti-corruption compliance, which will contribute to the further development and stabilization of Ukrainian communities. Such events are extremely important for establishing a dialogue and reflecting the great importance of reconstruction as part of Ukraine’s defense. This was confirmed by the Conference participants and international partners: “Reconstruction is an integral part of Ukraine’s defense”, — Remi Duflot, Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine. “Don’t wait for peace, start rebuilding as soon as possible”, — Ole Egberg Mikkelsen, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Denmark to Ukraine. “Recovery and reconstruction should be at the top of Ukraine’s agenda”, — Allan Pag Christensen, Head of the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative. “We are not just trying to rebuild what has been destroyed, but we are trying to rethink certain social ties”, — Oleksandra Azarkhina, Deputy Minister of Communities Development, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine. “Discussions suggesting that war and reconstruction are separate entities are extremely perilous”, — Mustafa Nayem, Head of the State Agency for Reconstruction and Development of Infrastructure. Such events are important for the future of Ukraine, and BDO in Ukraine fully understands their importance. We have developed an Investor Guide and regularly update it. It defines in detail the key mechanisms and important milestones critical to attracting investment, as well as provides an in-depth analysis of potential risks and suggests strategies to mitigate them. The guide covers investment opportunities in various sectors of the economy, with a particular focus on international financing and export credit. BDO in Ukraine team continues to facilitate Ukraine’s reconstruction process, offering expert support. Reach out us ifyou need further consultation.
