Baker McKenzie assisted Monsanto with a significant project on the construction of a seeds processing facility in Ukraine

  Kyiv, Ukraine, 27 September 2018. Baker McKenzies Kyiv office provided full legal support to Monsanto, which has now become a part of Bayer group, on all stages of the seeds processing facility construction project in Ukraine.  The largest of its kind in Ukraine, the seeds processing facility was officially opened on 5 September 2018 in Pochuiky, Zhytomyr region. It is reported that the seeds facility is providing 85 permanent and 220 seasonal jobs. The scope of Baker McKenzies work included real estate, project financing, and regulatory and competition issues. The Kyiv team supported the project for more than five years, stating from its very inception. Our lawyers conducted legal due diligence, advised on various legal issues relating to construction, land, project financing, regulatory permits and licenses, as well as  assisted in obtaining AMC approvals for the project, and more.   Baker McKenzie’s Kyiv team was led by the Kyiv offices Managing Partner Serhiy Piontkovsky, Partner Hennadiy Voytsitskyi who acted as a Project Manager, and Partner Oksana Simonova, with key input from Associate Elmaz Abkhairova, and expert input from Senior Associates Hanna Shtepa and Olha Mikheieva and Associates Anna Smyrnova andKhrystyna Knygynytska.   Managing Partner Serhiy Piontkovsky commented: We are extremely proud to be a part of this milestone project in Ukraine. It involved complex legal structuring, practical approach, problem solving solutions and great team work.
