The EBA met with the new Head of the freight division at Ukrzaliznytsia

01/ 05/ 2025
On 1 May, a meeting took place between member companies of the European Business Association and the newly appointed Head of Freight at JSC Ukrzaliznytsia, Oleksandr Nosulko. The discussion focused on current issues regarding cooperation between cargo shippers and the national railway operator.  Participants addressed the status of the development and approval of Ukrzaliznytsia’s Strategic Development Plan for 2025–2030, the condition of the company’s information system, and tariff-related matters. The topic of tariff distance adjustments was also raised, as the ЕВА had previously advocated for using the shortest routes when calculating rail transport tariffs. Oleksandr Nosulko shared the company’s plans for renewing its locomotive fleet over the next three years and the efforts underway to resolve the issue concerning innovative freight wagons (inovahony). In particular, Ukrzaliznytsia is preparing a direct contract between the owners of such wagons and Ukrzaliznytsia, which is expected to be published by 1 June. Given the surplus of freight wagons, Ukrzaliznytsia is developing several projects aimed at attracting clients – including projects involving CTL wagons, long-term contracts, cargo storage, and more. The company also plans to enhance its communication with the business community, including the upcoming launch of a new-format survey on customer satisfaction with its freight services. We are grateful to Mr Oleksandr Nosulko and the Ukrzaliznytsia team for the introduction and their attention to business-related matters.
