The EBA joined the discussion of EU Regulation 2023/1115 on deforestation and forest degradation

  On October 11, Yuriі Andriiv, the Committees Manager of the European Business Association, together with Bohdan Tsupryk, the Head of the Woodworking and Furniture Committee, joined the discussion of EU Regulation 2023/1115 on deforestation and forest degradation (EUDR), organized by international organizations WWF-Ukraine, FAO, FSC Ukraine, and IPRSA. The European Business Association supports European integration processes while emphasizing the need for the gradual implementation of EUDR regulations, primarily ensuring the unhindered supply of wood products by Ukrainian companies to the EU, as well as building a constructive dialogue involving companies from the woodworking and furniture industries to consider the positions of all stakeholders. For your information, within the framework of the working group on facilitating Ukraines preparation for the implementation of EU Regulation 2023/1115, developments on the EUDR were presented at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine. Additionally, participants discussed the following issues: Harmonizing the terminology in the Ukrainian translation of the EUDR regarding key terms and requirements; Systematizing existing forest policy tools in Ukraine to support the implementation of the EUDR; Formulating proposals for improving national forest legislation, considering the key terms and requirements of the EUDR; Specifying key business solutions for enterprises in Ukraines forestry sector to ensure compliance with the EUDR requirements. The European Business Association thanks the Forest Stewardship Council for the invitation and the opportunity to participate in a productive discussion on the EU Regulation 2023/1115 regarding deforestation and forest degradation.
