EBA Announces Launch of New Subcommittee on Cybersecurity

26/ 06/ 2024
In light of russias aggression against Ukraine, particularly in cyberspace, the issues of information protection, cyber defense, and cyber resilience are becoming increasingly important. The growing number of regulatory initiatives in the field of cybersecurity in Ukraine, both at the national and sectoral levels, particularly in the context of Ukraines European integration process, requires active participation of businesses in shaping effective and balanced policies. In view of this, the European Business Association is launching a Subcommittee on Cybersecurity within the Business Security and Protection Committee. On June 20, the EBA, together with the Aspen Institute Kyiv, held an inaugural meeting of the new Subcommittee to present and discuss the goals and objectives of the new business association. The Subcommittees work has three main objectives: Advocacy for regulatory and legislative initiatives at the national and sectoral levels to implement best practices, establish transparent conditions for businesses, and create incentives for the development of the cybersecurity sector. Serving as a platform for private-public dialogue, primarily on issues that may affect the activities of businesses in Ukraine – service providers, cybersecurity product suppliers, or recipients of such services and products. Organizing private-private or private-public interaction among cybersecurity professionals in the private and public sectors, as well as interacting with other business associations and industry groups. Participation in the Subcommittee may be of interest primarily to representatives of the cybersecurity industry - service and product providers; representatives of the IT industry; owners and operators of critical infrastructure, as well as all companies interested in the topic of cybersecurity. Svitlana Mykhailovska. Deputy director for representing the interests of companies — members of the European Business Association. The creation of a professional platform to unite cybersecurity experts and strengthen their interaction is very relevant. Especially in the context of current security challenges and increased regulatory requirements as part of Ukrainе′s European integration process. We hope that we will be able to build a large and influential industry community to exchange experiences and develop solutions to strengthen the security of business and the state. In the near future, the Charter will be approved and the leadership of the new Subcommittee will be elected. If you support this initiative and are interested in joining, or have any additional questions, please contact the EBAs Committee Assistant, Nikita Havrylenko [email protected].
