Arzinger strengthens its White Collar Crime

13/ 07/ 2021
On July 12, 2021, Iurii Sukhov is joining Arzinger Law Firm as Partner. He will continue practicing criminal law as an attorney-at-law and will lead the firm’s White Collar Crime practice together with Kateryna Gupalo and Oleksander Plotnikov. Iurii Sukhov is a seasoned attorney-at-law with many years of experience, known for a number of the most high-profile and intellectually complex criminal cases, in which he successfully defended the interests of his clients – famous Ukrainian businessmen and politicians.  Prior to joining the legal profession in 2010, Iurii Sukhov gained extensive experience in senior positions in the civil service, law enforcement agencies, the state tax administration, etc. In particular, until 2001, Iurii worked at the State Tax Administration of Ukraine in senior positions in the Investigative Department of the Tax Police and was Head of the Main Legal Department. From 2001 through February 2002, he was Deputy Director of the Budget Legislation Compliance Control Department of the Accounting Chamber of Ukraine. Until April 2008, he worked at the State Committee of Ukraine for Nationalities and Migration as Director of the Department and Deputy Chairman of the Committee, and then held the position of Government Commissioner for Anti-Corruption Policy. Iurii obtained a PhD in law with his thesis Evasion of Taxes, Fees, Mandatory Payments: Problems of Separation from Related Crimes and Accumulative Qualification. Joining Arzinger as Partner is an important and logical step at this stage of my career. I am delighted that we have very similar professional and leadership aspirations. I am convinced that combining my experience and knowledge as a civil servant, attorney-at-law and researcher with Arzinger, its team, its system of practices and industries, and its brand lays the basis for the mutual realization of our ambitious goals, says Iurii Sukhov. “Arzingers expertise in White Collar Crime has enjoyed increasing demand in recent years, and this trend is growing steadily. We are witnessing the stepping-up activity of both national and foreign law enforcement agencies as well as our clients’ need for professional defence in this sensitive area, including complex cases with an international criminal component (extraditions, compliance investigations, etc.). Despite being already among the recognized leaders in this market, we do not stop there and keep working to strengthen the team and increase our market share. This is why Iurii Sukhov’s joining us is a logical and expected step to implement this strategy as well as a response to the needs of our clients,” comments Timur Bondaryev, Arzinger’s Managing Partner.
