The signatories of the memorandum also agreed that after completion of facility construction and start of its work, property rights for the new cancer center will belong to the Dnipropetrovska regional council that will provide for its maintenance and everything else required for its work. Paramjit Kahlon, CEO of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih: - ArcelorMittals policy is based on the principle of sustainable development and care for future generations. In 14 years that the Company has been working in Ukraine, we invested about 300 Mln UAH in corporate social responsibility projects. For many years in a row, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih has been systematically investing in healthcare development. However, in addition to purchasing of equipment for medical institutions, which we have been doing in recent years, it is also necessary to upgrade the entire infrastructure. And construction of the new cancer center is yet another stage of our strategy intending the overall support of local communities and our city. We support the President’s initiative to construct such modern centers in all regions of Ukraine. Sergey Shefir, Principal Assistant to the President of Ukraine: - We are glad that this long-awaited development is finally happening – city and regional authorities and ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih agreed to launch construction of a new clinic in Kryvyi Rih. We hope that, in a year, a completely new modern European-type oncology clinic will start its work here. We are grateful to city authorities for meeting this project half-way and allocating some land for construction, as well as to regional authorities for confidently undertaking organization of the whole process. We are especially grateful to ArcelorMittal Company. This is the biggest investor in Ukraine that cares not only for its profit and prosperity, but also for healthcare and environment of the city, where this Company plays a city-forming role. Mikhail Radutsky, Head of Committee on Public Health, Medical Assistance and Medical Insurance of the Verkhovna Rada: - Our objective is to announce national cancer control programme that we will implement with benefactors’ help. Kryvyi Rih will become the first city, the pilot city, where high-standard clinic will be constructed in accordance with German design. Once it is done, we want to construct such clinics for cancer diagnostics, prevention and treatment all around Ukraine, in 26 cities.
