Logistics issues

16/ 03/ 2023
Ukraine and the EU have extended the transport visa-free regime for another year The agreement on the liberalization of road freight transport has been extended until June 30, 2024. The document, which was signed in June 2022, canceled the need for Ukrainian carriers to obtain appropriate permits for bilateral and transit transportation to EU states. The corresponding agreement was reached during the first meeting of the Joint Committee of the Agreement on Freight Transportation by Road Transport. In the first year, the agreement proved its practical effectiveness. During the period of its validity, the volumes of two-way and transit road freight transportation increased by more than 50%. Together with European partners, the necessary logistics infrastructure at the border is currently being developed. In particular, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, 2 new checkpoints have been opened on the border with Romania, as well as a control point on the temporary infrastructure for the passage of empty cargo vehicles on the border with Poland. In addition, the throughput capacity of the Krakivets - Korchova point was expanded and the operation of the Yahodyn - Dorogusk point on the border with Poland was streamlined. After the signing of the Agreement in June 2022, the number of carriers crossing the border to the EU increased by 53% compared to the same period in 2021, and the number of crossings increased by 43%. Experts of the Association have repeatedly emphasized the need to extend the transport visa-free visa, in particular, they brought this issue up for consideration by European partners. We are grateful to the Ministry of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine for their efforts!
