Following the EBA’s efforts, in March 2012 the State Veterinary and Phyto-Sanitary Service finally normalised the procedure for issuing permits to crop protection products import of which is subject to licensing in 2012.

Background: Starting from January 2012, the Main Inspection for Plant Protection (which is a sub-division of the State Veterinary and Phyto-Sanitary Service) significantly delayed the issuance of permits to crop protection products, which are obligatory for importers to get their import licenses from the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine. In such a situation, all foreign economic activities of agrochemical producers operating in Ukraine could have come to a halt on the eve of the spring sowing campaign.

Thanks to EBA efforts, since March 2012 the State Veterinary and Phyto-Sanitary Service has come back to issuing permits within the legislatively established terms.

We are happy to share this success with our members who have been awaiting normalisation of the permit issuance procedure in the agrochemical sector of Ukraine.
