Consumer Electronics

23/ 01/ 2012
The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade drafted the Amendments to the Technical Regulation on Electromagnetic Compatibility of Equipment in line with EBA Proposals. As a current outcome of the of the long-lasting efforts of the EBA the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine took into account the suggestions of the Consumer Electronics Committee on the necessity to harmonise the Technical Regulation on Electromagnetic Compatibility of Equipment with EU Legislation. As a result the Draft Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on Amending the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 785 of 29 July 2009 with EBA proposals taken into account was published on the Ministry’s web-site on 10 January 2012. The approval of this normative act will become a significant positive step towards the harmonisation of Ukraine’s technical regulations with those of  EU’s and will simplify business activities for foreign and domestic producers of consumer electronics. Background: The Technical Regulation on Electromagnetic Compatibility of Equipment was elaborated on the basis of the Directive 2004/108/EU, however it contains significant discrepancies with the Directive. This leads to unreasonable financial costs and time loses incurred by companies. Among other this technical regulation applies to  four top-priority regulations highest possible harmonisation of which is necessary for Ukraine to enter into Agreement on Conformity Assessment and Acceptance of Industrial Products (ACAA) with EU. This agreement will facilitate free trade between Ukraine and EU without passing additional conformity assessment procedures. We would like to thank all EBA members who supported and contributed to EBA lobbying efforts that resulted in this progress and we will keep you informed on further developments.
