Consumer Electronics

24/ 11/ 2011
EBA Consumer Electronics Committee is pleased to inform you on that energy labelling of consumer electronics is now one step closer to European standards. The State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine has developed the Draft Resolution which foresees postponing mandatory energy labelling of consumer electronics to 2014. Pursuant to Committees appeal the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine (hereinafter – State Agency) has officially stated that the adoption of European energy labelling practices in Ukraine needs statutory changes, both substantive and procedural. As this process can be time-consuming the regulators offered to postpone the introduction of mandatory energy labelling to 2014 and to have time and space to develop and duly implement new requirements. Respective Draft Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine On Amending the Resolution No. 5 of 6 January 2010 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is published for discussion. We would like to share this progress through the prism of harmonising Ukrainian legislation with European one and thank all EBA members who actively supported this initiative. We will continue working on this issue and will keep you posted on all further developments.
