The customs rules violation is quite common: only for 9 months of 2016 the customs has imposed fines for 468 mil UAH and seized goods for 432 mil UAH. Svyatoslav Bartosh, the international economy activity expert,told how to preserve the reputation, goods and money in a case of the rules violation during the customs clearance. At the meeting, the attendees learnt about the most used articles when drawing up a protocol. The TOP-3 are failure to declare, goods transfer with suppression and unreliable information provision. In any of these situations, the customs has the right to detain, seize the goods temporary, require the documents, take the goods samples etc. The speaker gave the useful advice regarding the right behavior during the protocol making-up. If you have a clear position and all necessary documents, you should give explanation; if not, it will be better to refuse to do so. The participants also became aware of the successful defense strategy in customs rules violation cases, and liability distribution between the customs broker and importer, which is to be stated in the agreement.
