Today, you can realize basic needs on the Internet: buy everything you need: food, medicine, clothes, household goods, pay utility bills, order food from public catering establishments, find and rent premises, etc. At the same time, such online activity has led to an increase in fraud on the Internet. On November 2, 2023, at a joint meeting of EBA Odesa Corporate Security Working Group and EBA Business Security and Protection Committee, we have talked about how not to become a victim of fraudsters on the Internet and what to do if you fall into a trap. Speakers of the event - chief inspector of the Cyber Police Department Darya Hrytsaenko, Deputy director of SK Security Viktor Drobotenko, CEO of 10Guards Vitaliy Yakushev, and Olena Valchuk, Deputy manager of retail business of Central office in Odesa of MTB Bank, provided answers to the main questions regarding possible types of fraud and their prejudices, and also paid special attention to useful tips and skills in internet. The event was moderated by Inna Hryshkovets, committee manager of the EBA Southern Ukrainian Office. So, useful tips on how to protect yourself from fraudsters: Do not click on links or open attachments from unsolicited emails. Do not enter your payment details on unsecured websites (always check for https:// in the URL). Dont give out your bank card or medical records over the phone or email or respond to senders you dont recognize. Dont trust anything that seems too good to be true. Use strong, unique passwords for each account, and enable two-factor authentication where possible. There are many password managers, for every taste, even built into operating systems (KeyChain for Apple, Samsung Pass for Samsung devices), in browsers Saving passwords on the site (you need to be careful here, because the saved passwords are protected by a password to block the computer or phone, so install them later). There is also a separate KeePass application, which has passed several audits and shown its compliance. Keep your antivirus software and firewall activated. We can all agree that internet security is very important. But it can be difficult to scrutinize every email, website, click, or message you receive on the Internet.
