EBA Agrochemical Committee joined the meeting dedicated to reviewing and updating of the National Plan for Implementation of the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants.
The project is aimed at the monitoring and estimation of the current situation regarding amount and the conditions of dangerous chemicals, updating the National Plan for the implementation of Ukraine’s international commitments on the management of unsuitable chemicals, reporting by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine to the Stockholm Convention regarding persistent organic pollutants.
Thus, according to the Global Environment Facility (GEF), as of January 2013 there were 11 thousand tons of obsolete pesticides located on the 1,200 warehouses.
The GEF will allocate to Ukraine $ 350,000 in the framework of the Project to improve the situation with hazardous chemicals.
