The scope included oversized transport to the Vietnamese port, engineering preparation, loading supervision, export formalities, ocean freight and coordination at destination. Finding the right vessel was one of the first challenges. Capacity to Africa was limited, while port congestion left little flexibility in the schedule. Ahlers’ in-house chartering desk managed to identify a suitable solution based on the cargo specifications and project timeline. The dimensions and shape of the structures also required careful preparation. Th team reviewed how each piece would be lifted, supported and secured throughout the journey, but also supervised loading at the customer’s site. A Complex Final Transfer Coordination continued throughout the voyage with the vessel operator, port teams and local partners in Mozambique. Import procedures and final delivery arrangements were prepared in parallel to keep every stage aligned. The most demanding part of the operation came at Palma Bay, where the structures had to be transferred directly from the vessel onto a barge. With little room for adjustment, the lifting sequence, cargo positioning and securing arrangements were planned well in advance. Ahlers brought together its project logistics experience, local team in Vietnam, engineering and chartering capabilities, and destination partners in Africa to manage every stage of the shipment.
