EBA discussed sustainable development financing priorities in Ukraine with government representatives

19/ 03/ 2026
On 18 March, representatives of the Industrial Ecology and Sustainable Development Committee of the European Business Association took part in the first meeting of the Working Group on Sustainable Development Financing under the interagency working group on ensuring the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. Participants emphasised the importance of rebuilding Ukraine on the principles of sustainable development, with an active role of local authorities and the support of international partners. The meeting also presented the results of an assessment of initiatives in the field of sustainable development financing and proposed priority areas for further action. Particular attention was paid to discussing the priorities and challenges of sustainable finance in the European Union. This included challenges related to financing and implementing sustainable development projects, as well as the current state of legislative regulation in this area and the next steps for its improvement. Viktoriia Karpets, Committee Manager of the Association, stressed that sustainable development is not only about compliance with ESG standards, but also about enhancing business competitiveness and represents an important component of Ukraine’s European integration path. She noted that large enterprises require long-term financing for decarbonisation, while access to relevant financial instruments remains limited. The Association expresses its gratitude to the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the “Capacities for Climate Action” (C4CA) project / Ukrainian Climate Office, and the Office of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities under the President of Ukraine for organising the event.
