Ukraine lifts import restrictions on Hungary introduced due to a foot-and-mouth disease outbreak

05/ 12/ 2025
The European Business Association is pleased to inform member companies that, by Order No. 104 of the Chief State Veterinary Inspector of Ukraine dated 19 November 2025, the temporary restrictions on the import into Ukraine from Hungary of animals susceptible to foot-and-mouth disease, genetic material, raw materials, and products derived from them have been lifted. As a reminder, these restrictions were introduced in March 2025 following an outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in Hungary. The decision to lift the restrictions will have a positive impact on production activities in Ukraine, particularly for enterprises that use raw materials of Hungarian origin, which are unique on the European market. In addition, it will help ensure the continuity of production processes and the stability of supply chains, ultimately contributing positively to the country’s economy. Consumers will also benefit from renewed access to high-quality products on the Ukrainian market. The EBA expresses its gratitude to the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine, Taras Kachka, and to the Head of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection, Serhii Tkachuk, for their constructive dialogue and attention to the needs of business.
