Presentation of the book “Business Between War and Life / WAR LIFE BUSINESS”

08/ 10/ 2025
Even on a gloomy autumn day, Odesa was filled with a special atmosphere — one of warmth, humanity, and inspiration. On October 6, the European Business Association hosted the presentation of the book “Business Between War and Life / WAR LIFE BUSINESS” at the Museum of Modern Art of Odesa — an inspiring publication that brings together stories of Ukrainian entrepreneurs who, despite the war, continue to build, create, and support one another.  The event brought together Odesa’s business community, for whom the values of resilience, mutual support, and strength of spirit are not just words, but a daily reality. Every page of the book came alive in conversation, and participants felt that these stories are not only about business but also about life, courage, and humanity in challenging times.  The event’s speakers included: Anastasiya Shevchenko — author of the book, CEO of Global HR Solutions, Regional Director of LHH, and one of the Top 50 Most Influential Women in FinTech, Kateryna Morozova — Head of the Southern Ukrainian Office of the EBA and Vadym Morokhovskyi — Chairman of the Board of Vostok Bank, founder of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Odesa, and Honored Economist of Ukraine.  The book features more than 20 stories of companies and leaders — including cases from members of the European Business Association and other market leaders such as Nova Poshta, ATB, Kyivstar, METRO, Arsenal Insurance, WOG, RENOME SMART, Avrora retail chain, Oschadbank, and others. These are real examples of adaptation, responsible decision-making, and inspiration that can serve as a guide for businesses today.  During the meeting, Anastasiya Shevchenko shared her leadership experience, the process of finding the heroes for the book, how the stories were selected, which one turned out to be the most emotional, and how long the work on the publication took. She also spoke about practical approaches that help companies survive and grow during the war.  Following the presentation, a friendly networking session took place, during which participants had the opportunity to share their impressions, ask additional questions, purchase the book directly from the publisher, interact with the author, and receive autographs. All proceeds from book sales are directed to supporting the employment of veterans and internally displaced persons — another example of how business contributes to Ukraine’s recovery.  Special thanks to Anastasiya Shevchenko for her sincerity and inspiration, and to the Museum of Contemporary Art in Odesa for their hospitality. Upcoming presentations in other Ukrainian cities, as well as an English-language edition, will allow the stories of Ukrainian business to reach an international audience.
