Social Responsibility Through Action: Servier Ukraine’s Contribution to Combating Hypertension

16/ 07/ 2025
In November 2024, MISSION 50/28 was initiated by the All-Ukrainian Association of Cardiologists in partnership with Servier Ukraine. The goal of the program is to achieve blood pressure control below 140/90 mmHg in 50% of patients with arterial hypertension by the year 2028.  During the first phase, from November 2024 to February 2025, more than 1,450 doctors participated, contributing data on over 12,700 patients. The first analytical report has already provided important insights:  🔸 Only 16.2% of patients are reaching target blood pressure levels, even while on treatment. 🔸 The average blood pressure remains at 152/90 mmHg. 🔸 10% of patients receive no antihypertensive treatment at all, while 20% are on monotherapy. 🔸 Only 30% of patients receive fixed-dose combinations, despite guidelines recommending them as the first-line treatment for most hypertension patients. 🔸 The rate of cardiovascular complications (heart attacks, strokes, heart failure) remains high. 🔸 Hypertension is increasingly common among younger people, particularly men, who are less likely to recognize the need for treatment and are less adherent to recommendations. The next phase of data collection will begin in October 2025 and run through December. The information gathered will serve as the basis for annual analysis and monitoring progress. In addition to the planned data collection, all doctors participating in MISSION 50/28 have access to an educational platform and a chatbot, which provide them with up-to-date scientific information and patient support materials. Doctors can join the program at any stage, participate in training, and stay informed about the latest news and results.
