Ukrainian Business: From Survival to Strategic Resilience

🌍 Business in Ukraine today is no longer just about survival — it is about mature and pragmatic resilience. Despite ongoing challenges, companies are increasingly shifting from crisis response to strategic planning for the future.

In an interview with HYPERCUBE, Kateryna Morozova, Head of the Southern Ukraine Office of the European Business Association, shared her perspective on the key challenges facing Ukrainian businesses today — from workforce shortages and regulatory unpredictability to the risks that most significantly affect companies operating in the southern regions of Ukraine.

What is the business community signaling today?

✔️ Uncertainty remains a greater challenge than objective risks. Companies have learned to operate amid blackouts, logistical disruptions, and security threats, yet unpredictability in the regulatory environment continues to complicate long-term planning.

✔️ Labor shortages have become one of the key barriers to business development and are now considered as significant as security-related risks.

✔️ For most companies, stability remains a higher priority than expansion. At the same time, the ambition to grow has not disappeared — it has become more measured, efficiency-driven, and strategic.

✔️ Business associations are playing an increasingly important role — not only by advocating for companies’ interests, but also by consolidating the voice of the market and contributing to systemic change.

As Katerina noted: “Ukrainian business today is a pragmatic and weary titan that sustains the country’s economy through its people, transforming every challenge into a new form of resilience for the sake of our shared future.”
