The EBA received official clarifications from the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine regarding the correct UKTZED code that has to be applied during the customs clearance of smart bands. The business community paid the attention of the State Fiscal Service (SFS) to the problem with customs clearance of smart bands. In particular, different customs offices classified smart bands according to different UKTZED codes, namely: 8517 62 or 9102 12. The abovementioned resulted in unequal business conditions and paying diverse customs duties from 0 till 10% for the same product. Therefore, the EBA prepared the official request to the SFS and asked to clarify the UKTZED code to be applied for smart bands and to send the relevant information to all customs offices. The SFS decided to clarify the correct code with the World Trade Organization (WTO) aimed to apply the international harmonized approach. We are glad to inform you that the WTO decided that the customs clearance of smart bands has to be made according to 8517 62. Therefore, the SFS sent official letter to all Ukrainian customs offices with the request to make customs clearance of smart bands according the single UKTZED code. We are grateful to the State Service for prompt reply and constructive cooperation. For more details please contact [email protected], Consumer Electronics Committee Manager.
