Sometimes such persecution threatens human life. In such cases, the only salvation may be to leave your country and seek refuge in another state. In order to protect such persons, the international community has developed an effective legal mechanism, the essence of which is to grant a person who is persecuted in their country a special status - refugee or person in need of additional protection. What rights and guarantees does this status provide? A refugee may not be forcibly returned to his or her country of persecution. A refugee shall be entitled to stay legally in the territory of the country which has granted him such status. A refugee receives the right to work, education, social security, freedom of movement, provided by the legislation of the country that granted refugee status, ie the chance to live a full life in a new country. The universality of the legal institution for the protection of human beings through the granting of refugee status lies in the uniformity of its application by many countries, as the mechanism for granting it is contained in the 1951 UN International Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees.
